Went with Discovery Tours to go see the play The Full Monty in Tacoma. It was a 'Red Hatter's' group, so most of the ladies were wearing a combination of red and purple, with red/purple hats. Discovery Tours is mainly for older women, but I couldn't resist tagging along, and no one seemed to mind. No one wanted to go with me, so I went by myself. Dunno why no one would want to see a play about a bunch of male strippers :-/ Heee!

I was in the first stop, and since I didn't have a hat, the main tour lady let me wear hers since she had a spare. The one I had was like a red female golf cap, with red sequins all over it and a red flower with purple feathers off to the side. And the spare one? A red lobster with pinchers o.o I think she was looking for an excuse to be goofy lol!

For people not familiar with the movie (since the play was based off of it), it revolves around these two guys who worked at a steel factory and were laid off. The one guy wants to be able to see his son, but he has a child support payment due soon that he can not afford.

Most of us were sat around in the same section. very nice seats.
The show started with a guy dancing his way onto stage and starting to do a strip-tease. Until he was down to just a g-string. Then he continued to dance around some.
A couple ladies in front of me had these clapper things, and one commented that she thought she was going to end up breaking hers *dies*
The guy left to a very nice round of applause and then the play officially started.

There was this scene where the two friends rescue another from the same factory who was trying to kill himself in his car (exhaust fumes), and said he had no friends. So the two volunteered to be his friends and help him out, helping to kill him. So they started in on a song called 'Big Ass Rock' singing that they can kill him with a big ass rock (or a cinderblock), and other various ways to die. I think that is one of my fav songs in the whole thing.

Another good song took place when the 'stripping team' had all been established. One of the guys was over weight and was singing a song to his stomach (while carresing it) and another was singing a song about his wife. Each guy was singing at an upper corner off the main stage and it was hard to decide who to look at. They took turns singing, then harmonized and sung together. Beautiful sounding!

One thing that always amused me about the film was that the young boy hung out with them while they perfected their acts. And the kids for the play was great and fun to watch.

So, the total 6 people (I am shitty with names)--The main guy who organized things who is rather scrawny, his friend who is overweight, this older black guy who can really but on some moves and calls himself Horse (he later admits that he is only average), this nerdy guy who teaches dance, this guy with a few screws loose (the one who tried to kill himself) and also falls in love with the dancer (aww) and someone else I can't remember.

(sorry, I am rambling hee)

So all 6 of them start to practice, and there is much stumbling around and whipping each other in the face with belts. When they finally learn to move as a team a la 'Michael Jordin's Ball' (name of a song where they incorperate basketball style).
The embarrasement when they all had to strip down to just their g-strings was awesome, as was when it was decided that they would actually go the Fully Monty, heee.

So yeah, lotta drama about the main guy getting cold feat for a bit before finally joining the guys on the stage. So basically, they all stripped down, clothes flying, not exactly graceful. They put hats over their privates as they took off the g-strings, then a huge light in the back lit up (reading Full Monty) just as they lifted the hats, so that it was impossible to see anything. Then the curtin lowered.

It was an awesome play and I wish that I could go again, but Sunday is their last performance *sobs* I loved all the songs and that main guy (wish I remembered his name) had great range, especially when he was singing to his son as he slept on the couch (awwww).
As we headed out to our bus, all the guys were outside in white fluffy robes chatting. After we got on the bus, the main guy jumped on to thank us all for showing up *squee* And one of the ladies asked if we could take him home with us ^.^

And another amusing thing...before we went to play, we had lunch. They were slow serving us (34 of us) and we got ice cream for desert. Had to eat it fast since running low on time and go to the theater with only minutes to spare. And the lady I saw with to eat, we chatted a little, and turns out that she has the same BD as I do, June 25th. She said that she would be turning 80.
Seems like I always end up talking the most to people who share my birthday *amused*

Sounds cool - I wouldn't have minded seeing it!

What is it with these 25/6 people? I don't think I've ever met anyone else in RL with the same bday XD

I just wish I could go see the play again. If it ever comes up again, going to try to go.

Wonder how many other people I have talked to that share our BD. Seems like I am able to sniff 'em out ;)

Hehe :D

Well, the tours are for mainly people over 40, so it would have seemed odd to bring someone my same age...my excuse would have been that my aunt cancelled at the last minute if they would have had a problem with me going. I did ask my aunt, who actually knows I write slash, but she said it didn't sound like her thing.
Actually, I think I might have enjoyed it less had there been someone else who wasm't as amused as I was.
