I've been working on this fic for quite awhile. I've been sharing it with some of my writing groups, which has been great motivation to work on it. But I have had a problem with it:

It is a Sherlock case-fic and I had no idea who the bad people were or their motivation.

Well, I am finally at the part where Sherlock has a run in with the bad guys, and the bad guys just announced to both of us why they are killing people *cheers*

Just had a discussion with [livejournal.com profile] daasgrrl about how many fics we have written over the years and how fun it is to see the new fic EXPLOSION whenever we find a shiny new fandom.

Since I like stats and charts, I tallied up how many fics I have written for each fandom each year. This only includes fics that I have posted, and none of the incomplete ones still on my hard drive.

I love sitting here, doing a bit of writing, and cackling with glee at the torment I am putting my characters through! HA! Now...need to find a way to save them...eventually...

Poor John :D :D :D

Nabbed from [livejournal.com profile] felisblanco

Post a few sentences from every WIP you're currently working on, even if it's very short. Then invite people to ask questions about your WIPs. With any luck, the motivation to take that WIP one step closer to completion will appear as if by magic!

1)
Molly fled the room, door slamming behind her. John could only stare open-mouthed at the closed door before turning to look at Sherlock. “That was uncalled for,” he finally managed to splutter.

Sherlock only shrugged before sitting on the couch, swinging his legs up, then lying down on his back to stare up at the ceiling. “Pesky things, emotions.”

“Normal things, emotions.”

2)
(Sherlock is 13)
“What are you up to now?” Mycroft.

Sherlock sat in a plush chair in his father’s study. He had a book open on his lap. Perfect picture of normality. Except for the blindfold tied across his eyes. Sherlock ignored his brother and turned the page. He caught the softball when it was thrown at his head.

Mycroft didn’t bother to question the how – smell of leather, rustle of cloth as the arm drew back, of course he would go for the head – and stomped over, roughly tugging the blindfold free.

3)
Even if someone didn’t have a fear of water, most people had a bad dream or two about drowning. John had a lot like that. Especially after the war. The water always held him back, kept him from reaching his friends, who bled out on the shore just out of reach. Their looks still haunted him. “S-Sherlock.” The tickling of the water as it reached his chin brought him back to the present and John tried to keep from panicking.

Sherlock walked carefully, to keep from churning the water, and crouched down in front of John. The look on his face made John hate himself, no matter that it wasn’t his fault, Sherlock’s calm façade starting to crumble.

4)
Sherlock was on his knees amid broken glass and colorful liquids, his hands pressed to his face. And the blood. Oh, the blood. He had stopped screaming, but the noise coming from the back of his throat scared the shit out of John. It sounded like Sherlock was in agony.

“Jesus,” John whispered.

5)
“One more miracle...stop it, stop this...”

If only he could. He watched John gain control over his emotions as quick as he had lost them, square his shoulders¸ the pivot to follow in Ms. Hudson’s direction back to the car. Halfway to the car, John paused, froze.

Sherlock stepped further into the shadows as John turned in his direction to look at the woods. Was he looking for his miracle? They don’t grow on trees, John.

WRITING CONTEST

Hiya all :)

The Writer's Guild that I am a member of is planning on starting a writing contest. I know there are some awesome writers here, and I think that some of you might have a good shot at it. I don't know all the details yet, but what I do know so far:

* It is open to everyone
* $25 dollar entry fee (which includes a membership into our guild).
* PRIZES $100 for first, $50 for second, and an undetermined prize for third place.
* The top 3 entries will be read by an agent (as soon as we secure someone *fingers crossed*), and a panel of 3 judges will determine the top 3.
* The work has to be original and not submitted anywhere else.

Is there anyone here who might be interested? I can give a few more details and I will definitely post the website link once we have it up and running :)

I want to do some writing tonight, but the fact that I keep misspelling every other word is a bit troubling. I think my fingers are too cold. I had just noticed that my window isn't closed properly and it needs a good slam to get it closed all the way *sigh*

I was digging around through my story folder and found this original story that I started almost three years ago. I vaguely remember it, and that I had some cool things planned for it. I'd only written five pages, decent, and I have no idea what the plot was going to be *cries* It is like torturing myself from the past! :(

I just had an awesome story idea!!! Sooo tempted to switch NaNo stories, but I don't think this one has the legs for more than 20k words, and I have no idea where I want to go with it (while I do know the direction of my current NaNo plans).

I haven't been hit with a story idea in forever!
Uuuughh!!

If I made mention of wishing that pencil erasers still erased things, would you know what I was talking about?

I have had bad luck in the last several years with getting pencils that their erasers were so hard that they would not do anything. Anyone else? or is this just me?

Finally have the energy to write after the NaNo burnout.

This is the summary for a J2 fic I am trying to work on. No promises that I will actually finish it, though lol

Summary: Being dead sucks. How can Jensen save the one person he would die for when he himself is already dead?
evila_elf: (Default)
This makes the 4th in 2 weeks.

Last night I was listening to my Zune and playing a few online games. The soundtrack to my fav musical came up (not RENT, though I adore that as well), and I started picturing Jensen as the lead. Then Jared as the other guy and OMG!

So I immediately stopped everything I was doing and looked up the soundtrack, since the musical is pretty much 98% singing. Then I started writing. 1.5 hours later I had 4 pages and I needed to go to bed because it was almost 6am.

Got 2 more pages done today.

Now the tricky thing is is that I am not making this a musical, so I need to rewrite dialogue (because who really speaks in rhymes?) and push around and about some unimportant scenes.

*dances*

After being in a bit of a dry spell as far as writing anything (mainly too busy to do anything aside from NaNo plotting), I'm getting nibbled at here. And I just want to toss everything into the backseat and start writing. BUT I CAN'T! Maybe if I can get everything done I can play with it some.....gah!

I wanna pet the bunny!

Today I had a blast. Right from work I went over to The Matrix--which is a little nightclub/performance space.
Filler--started going there in November for NaNoWriMo, and a bunch of us writers in the area wanted to get together and continue meeting. So we started meeting there once a month for a workshop, and twice a month for a writing critique group. Tonight was a workshop night.

We had to pick one of our characters and act like them the whole night. We had a round of therapy, a few group activities, then a Q&A monologue, where one of us would go on stage and talk in character and get asked questions. I filmed most of it and had the hardest time not laughing out loud. Trying to hard to keep quiet that I was crying at one point.

I choose to be Ben, one of my shy gay boys from my NaNo. My attempt at dressing up (wasn't mandatory) was to comb back my hair in a ponytail (woot, it is long enough to do that with now) and wear my glasses. Also put on a denim shirt and used a messenger bag to carry all my crap in.

By filming, I didn't have to participate much (again woot!), but now I want Ben to play around with a camcorder in my Novel--I had a blast doing that. Hoping we get to continue along next month and have another round of therapy.

The group consisted of: A young girl (10 or so), a guy who was 'born to be good,' a lady who was writing a memoir of her life--who doubled as our therapist for the evening--a young woman who caught the eye of a Lord and finds out he is not who he seems to be, a dragon, a half man half orc, a vampire....those were the biggies. Not all did the Monologue Q&A and didn't stand out enough in our therapy to get to know them better.

So I was there from 5 until 11:30.
Wow o.o;

Catch up

Okay, time to play catch up on what's been happening the last few days---

Yesterday was incredibly boring at work: There was hardly anything to shelve. On top of that, I was feeling kinda out of it--I blame it on the 4 hours sleep I had the night before, after staying up to watch All Over the Guy (Youtube trailer link here --Just watching the trailer makes me want to see if again LOL). I was originally only going to watch 15 minutes to see whether I would watch it later, or delete it. Was going to burn it onto a disk, but the burn screwed up (I blame a set of bad disks) so I went to buy it on Amazon ^__^
Anyway, my 'icky feeling' turned into a throbbing headache. I watched a movie with [livejournal.com profile] michelleann68 and then crashed into bed at only 11:30. I was trying to lay on my side, but Ki wanted to lay on me---she ended up straddling my side, which was hilarious and very unconfortable, so I had to roll onto my back. Fell asleep as she was snuggling under the covers. Woke up at 4 with her sprawled on my back. Went the bathroom, then went back to sleep. Didn't wake up until 10:30. So for once I got a ton of sleep lol.
Today at work was also boring. I got there at 12, went to the post office to pick up the mail, then chatted to a guy (who has written some nonfiction books and was currently writing a novel) for about 20 minutes. So it was about 40 after when I started to shelve. I paused after I did half the books to ask Carol a reference question (she looked bored, lol), which took all of 5 minutes.
I was all done shelving by 2, so I took a 15 minute break (which lasted almost 17 minutes because I was reading a book and it was in the middle of a tense, yet hilarious, scene that I couldn't stop in the middle of.
So the last 2 hours were spent checking the book drop, shelving the bits and pieces of things that came in, chatting to coworkers and patrons, browsing books on the shelves, and straightening things. I was so happy to find a shelf of books that were in the wrong place--but it only took me 3 minutes to fix :'(

Moving on...or backwards:
Thursday I had a writer's group meeting (we meet a couple thursdays a month). The last meeting only 1 person was able to show up and I passed her a few chapters of my nano novel. She gave me feedback at this meeting. She seemed to like it, but gave me a few suggestions to make the pace move faster and gave me some great ideas of things to add. Turned it in to the others (yay, everyone showed up) and will see. One of the other gals keeps calling my tuff porn just because there is a m/m pairing in it *sigh* Kiss =/= porn.

Continuing on backwards:
Tuesday, I went to work early, so I could get off at 5 (instead of 8) because there was going to be a TGIO (Thank God It's Over) NaNo party at 6. Made a bunch of cookies the night before to bring.
About 12 people showed up, only a couple of them I knew from the few meetings I was able to attend, and one of them is in my writing group.
We chatted and played a few games while we waited for our leader--Liz--to show up. We made a card and signed it for her. She was a couple hours late.
After Liz arrived, we crowned our King and Queen: person who wrote the most, and our person who verified as the winner first on the NaNo site.
We drew names out of a hat for prizes-some books and goodies. We were able to almost go 2 rounds since there was tons to give away. The last item on the counter was a XXL NaNo 2006 T-Shirt that no one wanted. I was drawing the last name and I got myself. Even as a nightshirt, I doubt I could wear it *giggles*
I surprised myself by staying until the party broke up at 10. We took pictures around this table where the seats were so slow and soft that it was hard to get out of them again. If I ever get to see the pic(s), I'll post them up here.
We are planning on getting together on the 16th of January to read a bit from out novels and catch up. I don't plan to read--yet I have a feeling I will be forced into it. Uugh...I hate all forms of public speaking!

So. That has been my week.

Upcoming stuffs....
I might go see The Day the Earth Stood Still tomorrow--despite the neg reaction to Keanu. Then on Monday morning is the staff breakfast. Last year I couldn't go because I was in Seattle, plus it snowed a lot and only 2 people showed up. So as long as not too icy, I will go :-)
And...I think that is it.

Oh--First snow of the season this morning :D

Yeah...I've been bad lately ;) (With posting, that is)

Been a few little interesting things here and there, but I have been feeling anti-social, even though I could make a post in about 5 minutes.

So here is a bunch of randoM stuff from the past...week?
