I really want to start this up again. Give me a reason to post every day.

Anyone have any requests of what they want to see pictures of?

And feel free to look at the daily picture tag for other posts when I did this before over a year ago!

There are some new houses being built a bit down the road from me. But a fence was put up so now I can't watch them anymore:

We went from this:

To this:

I only worked 4 hours, but I helped load up 7 of those big carts and move all of the plastic holders of magazines. Took me 3 hours at home until I could move my arms without them hurting.

We were supposed to start moving things into the new building, but something about needing a fire inspection and a system being installed is stalling us. Looks like it might not happen until Monday. Bleh.

Well, this is the first day of the library closure. We had 3rd graders from a local school come over to form a chain and pass books from the temporary library to the new one. It still has a ways to go before it is completed, but we can still shelve books over there and pack up things at the temp spot.

Long day...not used to working 8 hours. Or getting up at 6:30 (shoot me please).

Anyway. A month or two ago, someone left a cane by one of the computers. It has yet to be claimed. Forgetful much?
I have no idea what we are going to do with it:

People leave the oddest things lying about lol.

Uugh, House was boring, except for cut for spoilers )

I found Carmen Sandiego!

She was hiding in a stack of cards/pictures that I haven't looked at in like 3-4 years.

I got a Rubik's cube a few days ago. Mom decided to mess it up for me (gee, thanks, Mom). Any way, I managed to put it back together.

Sorta lol

Uugh, where has the night gone?

Earlier, I cleared away the box and empty binders from the shelves by my bed, tucked away a bunch of half scribbled in notebooks that were on my dresser (so many half-started stories in them...boggling) and did my last little bookshelf that is close to my desk here:

In case anyone is interested--VHS tapes, RSL talking book collection (I have about 2 more to get, but I don't want to spend 20 bucks each for them used or 35 for them new, grr), photo albums, and a coin sorter. I really need to get rid of it and just keep the tubes for measuring.
2nd row: Notebooks and interesting printoffs from the internets. Unsorted paperbacks. I think I am going to keep most of them. Need to shift them to their appropriate bigger shelves and bring in my RSL VHS tapes and line them up there.
3rd row: Shoes ;)

Next, I need to clean out this drawer so I can stick all my blank notecards in it--so much random crap in there now. My cards are currently stuffed in a box with my loose photos

Picture, picture, picture....*looks around*

Any cat lovers out there? This is a great magazine, even if you just want to look at the pictures:

Somehow, I thought organizing my books at 3am would be a good idea. It is now almost 5am.

At one point, my floor looked like this:

Notice the cat, looking oh so innocent. She enjoyed nudging the tallest stacks of books. When I was moving books off the shelf, it looked much worse than it does in that pic.
The stack of books closest and to the left of my computer are 10 or 11 David Gemmell books that I had been saving for...I dunno. Loved one of his series, so bought a bunch of them over the years, but none were as good as those first books and I have no urge to read them.

So, my way of 'organizing' was to put all the books I have not read on one bookshelf by my door, and all the books I had not read and want to on the bookshelf by my bed. Heh. It kinda worked.

I ended up with a huge pile of books I didn't want (and couldn't post to paperbackswap.com because they were falling apart) and those will be looked over by Mom and tossed. I also posted about 50 more to PBS...a lot older books that I had had when I was a kid (including 5 different versions of Huckleberry Finn)

After pictures (can click to make bigger if you want to try to read titles, lol):

The top row are some things I still need to go through (maybe when I actually have some books to fill that space with) and see what I want to keep. Most I have not read. Next 3 rows are all ones I have read and want to keep (except for the odd stack of books on the 4th row--those are ARCs that I have no other place for. And the last row (which you can barely see) are all ones I have posted to paperbackswap and am hoping to get rid of.

There is another row that I couldn't get in the picture...it is filled with stuffed animals and some foreign language books (spanish, sign language), and a coin collecting book. Next row are all my paperbacks (and a few others) with a second row behind--those books I will eventually end up reading. Summaries all looked good.
Next row=miscellanious crap. Some I have read, some not, and all those binders need to be sorted and tossed out. My flute sheet music is also in there somewhere, too.
The next row is the one I will be working my way through. I have about 3 books by my bed, then I will start in on these...no particular order to them yet. And a picture of RSL that [livejournal.com profile] daasgrrl sent me is sitting on top because I had no where else to put him for now...need to find wallspace somewhere :-)
Last row....stack of CDs I no longer want, my Harry Potter books, a binder I need to clean out and keep, and a box of stuff relating to my old computer that I put all in one place back when we were moving and thought I might need...haven't looked at it in 5+ years. So chances are I can get rid of it.

Bleh...past 5am. Bed time.
PS...I did a spellcheck on this before posting and it says there are no spelling errors....seriously?? How the hell did I manage that lol.

The front of the building looks almost complete. There are two sets of stairs being put in...can kinda see here:

Another view of the back of the building, which now looks finished. I would have cropped closer, but my picture editor isn't working--hope it works tomorrow...I use it a lot.

Other library news, due to budget cuts (nothing to do with new building as far as I can tell), Sunday hours for all libraries are being cut. So there goes an extra $200-250 that could really have come in handy about now.
Money aside, there are a few coworkers that I have gotten really close to in the 5 years I have worked Sundays, and I will probably hardly ever see them now (I worked Sundays at a different building). Maybe in a year or two, we will get them back....

Congrats to Clay Aiken :)

See that BIG space above our sign? There used to be a Graham Greene poster promoting reading there. Someone swipped it (none of the staff knows anything lol). Used to see the poster every day as I headed down the stairs to the library.

RIP, poster

*cough* Anyway...Less than a week until we start THE BIG MOVE to the new building! *freaks out*

Yesterday, we went to Longview (hour away) to shop at Winco and get lunch/dinner at Izzy's.

On the way back home...
This is not a comforting site on the freeway:

It was on a bit crooked, too.

Okay, here's a brief wrap up of all I got up to in Seattle...

Train was actually on time getting there, despite being 20 minutes late to get me. Had to wait in the train station with a pair of screaming kids (they were actually fighting over the single payphone receiver, banging it around and yelling at each other). They ran laps around each other with delighted giggles for most of the time. Uugh. So train got here and they all went to the farthest door where a man was waiting. I trailed behind--dreading getting on with them--when the last of the people got off and I asked the man there if he was taking any more and he let me on! Woot! So I got a different car with no screaming kids in sight and a single seat! As far as I could tell, there was a blind lady across from me, a heavier lady with a wheelchair in front of me, and a young mother with a newborn who only gurgled a few times a few seats ahead. Dunno who else was behind me, but they were quiet. I read for the full two hours with a small stop to the dining car.
(so much for being brief lol)
So I wandered out of the station and found the line for the cabs. Had about a 15 minute wait before was my turn. The guy got me close to [livejournal.com profile] michelleann68's apartment building, but I was a little turned around and asked if he could loop around. I am getting a little bit more familiar with the area, at least :D
Got a nice lady to escort me and let me in to Michelle's place, then it was just me and the cats. And Dante's Cove, which she had all set up for me to start with the remote controls waiting for me (seriously, that's what they looked like lol). I left a few hours earlier and caught an earlier train just so I could finish watching Season 3 before Chandra got there (Michelle didn't think it would be quite her cup of tea).
Well, we got all...5? 6? episodes watched and had started on something else when Chandra arrived. Michelle and her were going to England, so they were going to leave together. I had talked to her in chats while we watched Dr. Who and Torchwood, but had not met her face to face. Went well ^__^

We watched some Blackpool--David Tennant+Singing/dancing=win! Though, technically, I was reading my flist and only paid attention when I felt a song coming on (it played the actual singer of the song with the actors' voices singing along underneath...if makes sense), so I have no idea really of the plot lol.

So yadda, yadda, bedtime. Morning time, we went out for breakfast, then back home to wait for Gin. Watched more Blackpool along with...ugh, some other show. My mind is blanking, but there was some nice angst that I paid attention for ^_^
We left for dinner, took a cab because of the rain, and found out the place we wanted to go was closed for a private party (grrr), so we wandered a bit and settled on this other place (yeah, I reaaaalllly pay attention to names) and we realized we left too early...or ate too fast...still had an hour before the play (Shrek the Musical, again)
We wandered over to the theater--they don't open doors until like 30 minutes before the play starts, and we had about an hour at that point. Turns out it was like 20 til before they opened, but we chatted--or everyone else chatted and I listened ;)
Our seats were a little closer than last time---but not much really. Michelle and I had brought binoculars this time, and it was nice to be able to see faces and the costumes better. And other things *pokes at Michelle*
Seattle is the 'test city' for the play, and they have been working on the songs and tightening things during their stay here. Only one more week before they are done and heading to Broadway. This time, the play seemed to move much faster and had a few dialogue changes and things.
There was one tender moment and some young kid in the audience went 'awwwwwwwww' Sounded too young to be sarcastic at all.
At the end of the play, everyone clapped to the beat again :D (Maybe it is the band geek in me that makes me happy about that??)

So then back home. Gin stayed for a bit longer (okay, it was pushing midnight) then left.

Oh, the whole apartment had no water, btw, or it was acting up. Saturday, the water was freely flowing through the toilet. By the time we were home, it was making funny noises.
A pipe had burst, from what I understand. When they fixed it and were repressurizing it, it broke again and all the hot water was gone, followed by the cold water. So just a little cold water in the morning.

We stayed home all Sunday. I caught a cab at a quarter to 2, and Michelle and Chandra were going to leave about 3. My cabbie scared the crap out of me. Darting in and out of traffic, accelerating, speaking on phone whole time....The one time I was almost late for my train and I caught a cab, he sped and got there in 10 minutes. This guy made it in 7.

Line at station went fast, I got my seat (a single again, woot!) and sat in to wait 20 minutes for us to move. I read some, and watched an ep of Six Feet Under. The train was doing a redlight test, so we had to go real slow for a bit (a lot of train related deaths around here, a couple Amtrak, and one huge one from some guy who was texting and didn't see his red light signal--WTF, dude? So yeah, tesing, all good. Made me a bit late for home, but *shrug*

Okay, picture time! Here are the rest of the pics from friday:
Cut because this is already getting long lol )

Train trip

All in Seattle now :)

I took a few (okay, a lot) of pictures from the train. There is this really gorgeous spot about an hour into the (2 hours) train ride, so peaceful. It was really cloudy and hazy out, but I think it just added to the atmosphere.

But on sunny days, the water is really blue and pretty. *looks out window* I am heading back tomorrow...I doubt it will be sunny by then. Weather kinda bleh. But I hope to be on the water-side of the train so I can get a few more pics *obsessed*
FYI, any dirty spots are because the train windows were filthy!

Mom and Dad were off at church and a large lunch today, so they were gone until about 5-5:30. Was nice...I didn't get out of bed until almost 1:30, started some bread in the bread machine, picked some large blackberries from the same patch that I did from on Jeff's last day here:

Yes, that in the center is a quarter.
I watched a few episodes of Six Feet Under. 1 episode left to watch of S3.
I ran half of the berries down (okay, with a car) to Aunt and Uncle's and stayed for over an hour chatting.
Just got finished sorting through my little dish of change that was overflowing. I collect coins, so had to see if I have any that would fill my blank spots, then put them in tubes for rolling...and it is almost 5am and I should have been in bed a bit ago...that's what I get for sleeping in so late...not tired at all and I want to go through all my pictures on my computer and work on sorting them...uugh.
