Okay, I went through Photobucket so I could post these. The ones from my camera pretty much focused on the sea of heads in front of me, so I grabbed these from the camcorder recordings:

Been wanting to go for awhile to see Christian Kane perform at Dante's in Portland with Michelle, so we finally got our chance!

Picked [livejournal.com profile] michelleann68 up from the train station at 9:15 or so and we headed to Portland with my car(about an hour and a half drive).
Learned first hand how crappy and odd the Portland streets are. Once her iPhone could locate us, it helped us get where we needed to be!
We stopped at The Stepping Stone Cafe. Michelle had heard about them in one of her shows that she watches, and they featured a Man Cake, which is a plate sized pancake --> http://twitpic.com/e5g7a (That is one of those little things of butter on top). She managed about half --> http://twitpic.com/e5ikg :D I had a grilled cheese and onion rings. Too boring to take a pic of ;)
(Man Cake pics from Michelle's iPhone)
Then we went to Powell's Books. BIG. I pretty much only hung out in the Purple room, then went to find Michelle in the Red room. If we go there again, I want to do a little more wandering. Just those two rooms were the size of a bookstore apiece o.o;

After that, we found a nice parking spot that was close to Dante's and close to Voodoo Doughnut. Michelle got a maple bar with bacon on it --> http://twitpic.com/e63c0 lol

Then we went back to the car and read for an hour or so. Then we topped off the meter and went to Starbucks for drinks and more reading. Had to leave when the store closed at 7. Dante's didn't open until 8, so we went for pizza dinner across the street.

It was really crowded when we joined the line. Too bad not earlier so we could get a better spot. Managed to get two stools in the back. Concert started late, so we passed the time complaining about potential view blockers. Luke Perry was there and stood close by until someone spotted him and he disappeared into the crowd, never to be seen again. Also saw Aldis Hodge (of Leverage) in the crowd.

Had my camcorder, so I recorded what I could. Once the concert started, it became hard to see between people bouncing/swaying/waving arms. Here are the vids:

Was fun :D

Got back a bit after midnight and Michelle stayed the night here. Went for lunch the next day before we went to the train station.

Did all that happen in just one day? wow

I'll post up some pics soon...can't get them to post for some reason.

Jay Brannan concert

So, Sunday, [livejournal.com profile] michelleann68 and I went to see Jay Brannan. We went last year around the same time. He was promoting his new album of covers (with a few originals).

Last year, the concert was at The Triple Door. There were nice tables and you could order food, etc. This time? There was a bar. That was it. Only standing room. 100 degrees outside, 80+ inside. Eww. Around the wall, there was a table extension, and Michelle and I secured a spot by it so we at least had something to put our bags on.

I can't remember who was first up to sing...Michelle didn't post about it, so I can't steal ^_^
But anyway, there were these two guys who were practically glued to each other-kissing, nibbling, attached at the hip. Too hot to cuddle!

I brought my camcorder, but had given up the idea of recording when I saw how crowded it was. But, by the time the first person was done performing, I didn't care any more. So. I recorded all of Jay's songs. There were some really sweet people who ducked out of the way every time they went past me :D

Apologies for the people in the way on some of the shots and my unsteady hand. Feet were killing me and hard to shuffle and not jiggle camera.

Not embedding these 'cause there are quite a few.

Bolded my Favorites.

1. Your Body's a Temple--Michelle's favorite song of his, from his previous album.
At the start, he is talking about the heat
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2c4Zgzr9raM

2. On All Fours--He mentions that Seattle has the most vampires, then makes Twilight jokes :D Glittering FTW
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHRT9vDZTKg

3. Housewife--Dedicated to Edward Cullen! Hilarious!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ZjjW9wHUw0

4. Zombie--One of his covers from the new album and more talks of the freaking insane weather.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=57aUFkgunV0

5. La La La--Another cover. Hilarious and catchy.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ecEVexAQGrQ

6. Jay just talking about T-Shirts
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEXikQ6g2KI

7. Beautiful--One of his originals from the new album
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fFu8DgYUQdw

8. Soda Shop--Jay explains the inspiration for this song and points fingers at who introduced him to weed.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWRYFjvv1hs

9. Jay giving us permission to drink so he'll look/sing better
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kK9TmKRjucs

10. Denmark--Cover, I think. Pretty.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbH7EA3Ym24

11. Straight out of Compton--Jay's cover of a cover that he can't put on his album. Be warned: A lot of swearing ahead!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_abt066VKo

12. Both Hands--Cover. Another pretty song! (Shhhhh, but he forgot the words in the middle of it)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m73RyWT8WXc

13. Goddamned--I love this song :D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMbe2skR5oM

14. Blowin' in the Wind--*dies* This was my absolute fav on the set. He normally has these African...clacker things. That he keeps beat with. But they broke (awww), BUT he decided to sing it A'Capella! It sounded amazing!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePNUq4pLG80

15. Can't Have it All--Last song. From his first album
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7LuCR0AN0fU

At the end, we got our CDs signed. While in line, this one guy got his pic taken with him and scurried off after to squee at his friend "He touched me!" LOL

I hope he does another tour next year, but pleeeeese in an airconditioned venue!

I didn't mention I was going to Seattle, did I? Well I am and did and am almost ready to head back home again lol.

Got here on Friday evening and we watched some TV and stuff.

On Saturday, we went to see the movie 500 Days of Summer with [livejournal.com profile] michelleann68 and a friend of hers. It was pretty good! :D Then, later, we went to the Torchlight Parade because Michelle wanted to run walk the 5k before the parade. I camped out with a book and read (and watched people try to carefully stack their garbage in the overfull garbage can) until it started to rain (!!!). After Michelle finished, we found a little sheltered spot to sit for a bit so she could cool down and eat/drink. It started to pour for a few minutes--people screeched and scattered LOL. Took the bus close to the apartment, but then realized we were on the opposite side of the parade *facepalm* Michelle found an opening and we ran across the parade to the other side.

Sunday, we went to Chinatown with Gin for a bit. Then there was a 6:00 concert with Jay Brannan at The Crocodile. There was no seating. Standing room only. It was at least 90 degrees outside and felt 80 something inside *dies*. I brought my camcorder and recorded all the songs, so I felt the experience/torment was worth it--that and the concert was really good, too! I'll blab more when I upload.

Right now, Sunday night, we are watching the ep of Dr Who that just aired. Or should I say "watching." Finding it kinda annoying and pointless.

Heading home Monday afternoon.

Wheee

Another good day for stuff in Seattle. Went to a film earlier called In Search of a Midnight Kiss. It was an independent film, shot in black and white. About this guy who was trying to find love on Craigslist 24 hours before the new year. He finds a date and....well, telling what happens would give away the ending ;) But it was really good and had very nice and quick dialogue that really moved the plot along.

And, tonight, the whole reason for this visit--to see Jay Brannan's Fat is a Feeling concert tour. Eeeee!!!!!11 He was hilarious! And a lot of the people there (almost a full house) had definately heard of him and were hollering and clapping. He mentioned the Margaret Cho vid he put up a few days ago and the crowd went wild (while I squeed because I had been hoping he was going to sing the song. He 'claimed' he didn't remember all the words, but he sang the chorus and a bit of the start. Here is the version with him and Margaret Cho:
(WARNING!! Crude and very naughty)

I managed to sneak off a picture (hey, need to have something to post for my daily picture :D ) and I brought along the album I bought awhile ago to get it signed.

*flails*

Michelle had been wanting him to sing Your Body's a Temple and was sad after he sang his last song, but the audience was screaming so much that he came back for one more. After having that song title hollered at him (he thanked everyone for saying that), he sang it ^_^

He was adorable. While he sounds good on Youtube, he is way better in person. Uugh, I hope he comes back here so I can poke at Michelle to go with me again ;)
