I finally remembered to take a picture of Michelle's 'tie' wall...those stenciled ties she bought about a month ago.

Anyway, all home now. Was a bit nerve-wracking getting to the station. We were going to take a bus, but we were a few minutes too late. Had to go back up to Michelle's apartment to get the number to call a cab.
He was talking on the phone in a different language to one of his friends. He appologized like 5 times for talking (both on the phone and in a different language while he was doing so lol) and got off as soon as possible. He got me there in good time--2:05, 15 minutes before my train. The line to get my seat assigned wasn't long and moved fast.
It was funny...I was the first person on car 4. The next guy was sat next to me--he looked around at all the empty seats, at me, at his seat number, at me again, and I cracked up. Nice enough guy. Chatted a bit.
Turns out, the train was overbooked by lke 20 something people, so the extras were tossed in the lounge area. The 'voice over the speakers' announced Tacoma as 'The Land of DISCOVERY!!!' and it cracked us all up.
Those were the highlights of my trip home.

So boring around here...uugh lol

Another good day for stuff in Seattle. Went to a film earlier called In Search of a Midnight Kiss. It was an independent film, shot in black and white. About this guy who was trying to find love on Craigslist 24 hours before the new year. He finds a date and....well, telling what happens would give away the ending ;) But it was really good and had very nice and quick dialogue that really moved the plot along.

And, tonight, the whole reason for this visit--to see Jay Brannan's Fat is a Feeling concert tour. Eeeee!!!!!11 He was hilarious! And a lot of the people there (almost a full house) had definately heard of him and were hollering and clapping. He mentioned the Margaret Cho vid he put up a few days ago and the crowd went wild (while I squeed because I had been hoping he was going to sing the song. He 'claimed' he didn't remember all the words, but he sang the chorus and a bit of the start. Here is the version with him and Margaret Cho:
(WARNING!! Crude and very naughty)

I managed to sneak off a picture (hey, need to have something to post for my daily picture :D ) and I brought along the album I bought awhile ago to get it signed.

*flails*

Michelle had been wanting him to sing Your Body's a Temple and was sad after he sang his last song, but the audience was screaming so much that he came back for one more. After having that song title hollered at him (he thanked everyone for saying that), he sang it ^_^

He was adorable. While he sounds good on Youtube, he is way better in person. Uugh, I hope he comes back here so I can poke at Michelle to go with me again ;)

Well, mostly packed. Spending the weekend in Seattle with [livejournal.com profile] michelleann68.
Been having a bit of a time trying to remember things. I was wondering why one of my bags seemed less full than normal, when I remembered I needed to bring underwear. Oi. Then, an hour later, Mom tosses my pjs at my bag. Oops.

Big bag is where all my clothes, muchies, chargers, etc go. Smaller in back is where Pea will go, my books, and drink.
Packages need to be mailed on way to train station.

Went to see The Dark Knight with Jeff. It is still fun, though some bits dragged since I knew what was going to happen. Feeling a bit drained now. Need to go see what else I need to toss in the bags *yawn*

Took these a few days ago in Seattle. It is the view outside Michelle apartment window. I had taken a few the day before, but the sun had just peeked out from the clouds and I scrambled to grab my camera.

Seattle part 2

Uugh I had a wierd dream! Was hunting for my band teacher in a school I've seen but never gone to, and the school was all these mazes of steps and I was getting frustrated--like seeing glimpses of clothing, but when turned the corner, he not there. Then it started getting creepy and wierd and...I woke up to Michelle rustling in the kitchen...heard that noise in the dream lol.

Anywho...we lazed about, watched some of Psych (which I am becoming addicted to) before heading out to the It's About Life Expo. Lot of booths and stuff. Most interesting for me was a little book selection, but all the interesting ones I had already seen/read. Most interesting for Michelle were these stencil-on-wood art of how to tie a tie. She hesitated for all of 5 minutes before breaking down. There are 8 tiles, with various steps on them of how to knot it. While the artist was getting them ready, we wandered over to the stage area. Liz Clark was performing. She has a nice voice.
Pic is a little blurry:

After that, we were just in time to catch the 5:30 showing of Get Smart. It wasn't as good as I was hoping (a lot of the good scenes were shown in the trailers), but the end bits were hilarious. And it did have it's moments.

Went back to the apartment and watched more TV.

Then went to the ACT theater to catch Pinkaboo! The Closeted American Songbook with Phoenicia and Vic. I fell in love with Vic's voice. 'Nicia took a little bit of getting used to.
Picture with camera:

Then we watched Dr. Who.

And now bed...feeling all zombie-like

edit:
Forgot to mention...after Michelle put up the tie pictures, her cat, Lisa sat on the floor, glanced at them, then did a doubletake with wide eyes and just stared at them. For quite awhile. Then when we got home, she was sitting in a good position to have been staring at them while we were gone. *cackles* It was hilarious :D

My first full day in Seattle (this trip). Time to babble :D

Woke up at 5 something. It seemed much later. Went back to sleep. (fuun lol). Then officially got up around...10? I am so bad with remembering times and stuff. We kicked around for a few hours, then went to head to the Seattle Art Museum for the Impressionist exhibit. Art's not my thing, but I try :) There were some lovely paintings and I bought a bookmark. *note to self, get it from Michelle before I leave*

On the way to SAM, Michelle had me take this picture. Yes, I admit it was amusing ;)

Then we went down to the waterfront to view The Nina---a replica of Columbus' famous ship.
I has pictures )

Then we went back to Michelle's apartment and watched part of a movie, Full Frontal, and pretty much fast forwarded through the whole thing. Sooo boring. Kinda reminded me of Chelsea Walls as far as pace and character studies.
Then we put on Body Shots, which was much better, though that isn't saying much ;) Was decent enough to keep my attention for at least half of it. And it ended with just enough time to zip off for dinner to meet with a group of people.
I actually chatted a little during dinner *shock*

Then we all went (I think everyone from dinner?) to see Avenue Q. Michelle pretty much begged me to go. I'd heard the soundtrack, and that it had puppets, and that was pretty much all I knew about it.
I almost laughed myself sick! It was hilarious! I thought it would be a distraction to see the 'puppeteers' out there, but I had a blast watching them. We hung outside a bit and were able to snag a few actors to get them to sign the program...I felt bad that we kept having to use someone else's pen, since we didn't bring one of our own lolz.

Those were the highlights ^__^

In Seattle now.

I wanted to post a picture of all the city lights outside the window, but I can't get them to show up well. I'd have to turn off the lamp against the far wall, and then I would never be able to see to navigate my way back to the window. Though I do have a flashlight feature on my phone....nah, too much trouble.

Train was really late. Instead of touching in at 6:20, I got to the station at almost 7. Uugh. There was a really cute kid, less than 2 years old, who was playing in the asles of the train and people would have to step over her, or her parents would yank her out of the way. She stood up and completely blocked some guy's path, and the guy did this little sway-dance that amused everyone. But then the girl did it all the time to everyone, Then she tried to fall asleep in the middle of the asle. Oi.

We watched the commentary to Shelter ([livejournal.com profile] michelleann68 is obsessed with that movie *cackle*), the results to So You think you can Dance, and a French film called Three Little Pigs that was amusing, but hard to pay attention to and I almost fell asleep. I wanted to use Pea to wake up a bit, but then I would miss the subtitles.

Now it is almost 1 and I should be asleep. Trying to finish things up here, since I got a bit behind.

Anywho, pic time!
I took this pic yesterday. We have 2 kittens outside (feral) and we keep seeing them trotting around. This picture sucks, but there are 2 kittens in there somewhere lol

Black speck on smaller woodpile is one, and the grey dot on the largest (to the left of the high point) is another

And, for a better pic, my cat!

Yes, I am overdue with this for like...4 months lol
Figure I might as well get it up here before I go on about my last weekend trip to Seattle.

See if I can remember where I left off...
....
..
Okay, I this was our last day in Canada before heading back to the states. It was insane trying to find a place to eat, since most spots were closed and all our food tastes are way different. So mission (finally) accomplished, we headed to the Chinese Gardens.

Cut for pictures! )

Yeah...I've been bad lately ;) (With posting, that is)

Been a few little interesting things here and there, but I have been feeling anti-social, even though I could make a post in about 5 minutes.

So here is a bunch of randoM stuff from the past...week?

Starting with today/yesterday:
Cut because was getting a tad long:

Seattle Day 3+4

Okay, so I got a bit (a lot) sidetracked between my last entry and this one, hehe.

k. So....we are at Sunday I think.
We went to see the Gay Pride Parade that was pretty much right at the base of Michelle's apartment building. That was close to where it ended, so we wandered up the street aways. Despite it being so close, Michelle hadn't been before. I thought it was pretty good, though didn't really have anything to compare it to. Tons of floats, a rollerskating penis, big men in a bathtub....hehe
There was also this school bus that said something on it like safest drivers and the people in the bus were making it rock, so it was bouncing down the street. Kinda ironic, lol
Both of us were having problems with our cameras. I ran out of room on my digital card and the battery kept dying. If I turned it on and off, I could get off a few more pics. Between us we did pretty well.
clickie for pics )
kk, enough pics or I will be here all day.
If you want to see more, you can see both mine and Michelle's pictures combined here:
http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v334/michelleann68/gay%20pride%202007/

After that, we wandered down to the waterfront to look at some sculptures there. I was more interested in the scenery:

Then we went back to the apartment.
Oh, somewhere between the parade and the waterfront, we got some little dog treats for Mindy (Mom's dog) ate pizza, and I got new batteries for the camera.

I can't really remember what we did that evening. Watched some TV and looked over the pictures and wrote and....guess that is all lol. Oh, and watched a 5 second blurb on the parade on the news. Which sucked and wasn't worth waiting 10 minutes for.

kk, Monday. I think I was leaving about 2 or so.
I had wanted to see Michelle's apartment balcony/outdoor area that is on the 4th floor. Has a lovely view of the Space Needle. I had been telling myself that I wasn't going to be all touristy and take any pictures of it on my trips to Seattle, but I just couldn't resist here--the wanna be photographer in me did a little squee:

Then we hung out a little more, went to a store, then was dropped off at the train station.
Then I went home. Damn it is boring around here. Or was, but I will leave that for a new update that I will type...some time.

Seattle Day 2 lol

I need to stop putting off updating! I still haven't updated about the rest of my Seattle trip, and I am kinda starting to forget all the little details :-/
So, I guess I will do that now.
Already told about Friday....

So Saturday, Michelle, Gin, and I went to go see the play Uncle Vanya. It started out a little shaky, but I really started to enjoy it!
Here is a synopsis:

Uncle Vanya is set on a country estate some time towards the end of the 19th century. Aleksandr Serebryakov, a retired university professor, has moved there with his second wife, Yelena. For the past 25 years, the estate has been managed by Vanya, the brother of the professor’s deceased first wife, and the professor’s daughter, Sonya (Vanya’s niece), who has been living on the estate since her father’s remarriage. Out of respect for the professor’s position and learning, Vanya has willingly undertaken the management of the estate for a token annual salary. However, while the professor has been living with them, Vanya has become increasingly disillusioned; all he now sees is an old man afflicted with aches and pains, married to a beautiful and much younger wife—to whom Vanya himself would have proposed some years previously, but let the chance slip, to his regret. The professor now symbolizes for Vanya the waste of his own life.

As if in revenge, Vanya seeks to declare his love for Yelena at every possible opportunity, much to her irritation. Yelena has also attracted the attention of Dr. Astrov, a local landowner who is passionate about the environment, and dulls his impatience with Russian provincialism in alcohol. Astrov, who has been called in to look after the professor, spends much of his time at the estate, neglecting his medical duties to be in Yelena’s presence. Sonya has been in love with Astrov for the past six years, secretly and quietly. When she asks Yelena to speak to Astrov on her behalf, the doctor misinterprets, and declares his own feelings for Yelena. Astrov makes an attempt to embrace her, which is interrupted by Vanya.

As these entanglements unfold, the professor announces his decision to sell the estate, setting the characters off on a series of events that culminate in scenes of unexpected comedy and profound emotion, masterfully interwoven by Chekhov in one of his greatest plays.

I swear, it had everything in it. Two of the females ran off to a bedroom with a bottle of wine, the guys seemed to be constantly flirting, there was some pencil joke that had me giggling (though I think I was the only one.
PLUS, Samantha Mathis was in it (she was in House as the lady poisoning her husband with gold) and Mark Nelson, who was in Invention of Love with RSL. (We didn't find that out until we were looking through the program)
And, if you wanted to see a pic of Gin and I:
http://michelleann68.livejournal.com/103030.html#cutid2
(I am the short one)

After the play, we all went out to dinner, then....*mind blanks* Umm....yeah. I don't think there was anything else that we did. Michelle and I watched the newest Dr. Who.

Will do day 3 in a bit :)
evila_elf: (Alan-Oh for God's sake facepalm)
Just wanted to update you all before I forget everything...

Starting with Friday.

Friday seems like a long time ago.

Showed up to work super early to help clear out the last of the library stuff. The temp site is looking real good...all the books up, electronics almost all done. Just a lot of crap that we don't want to toss...chairs, tables, fans, etc.
Trish, a coworker, had this long stick that she was using to check the tops of shelves and things for stray items. Well, she found a...bladder bag? I didn't care to get a good look at it---bad with a long tube. And a pair of shorts. *shudder* and the tube was still dripping. She dropped the thing so fast and ran out the door. Just...freaking ewww!

So, we had movers haul one last load up to the temp site, and there was a bunch that needed to be hauled away to Service Center as surplus. I went to go see how Trish was doing...there had to be someone staying to watch it while movers were occupied because it looked like a giant yard sale, and as soon as I showed up, I was pretty much tagged into the position to watch all that crap. *sigh* So, for an hour and a half, I sat in this nice spinny chair that I pulled from the pile, propped my feet up on an old shelf, and sat there with my Pepsi. A few people came by, and I think I tried too hard to chat to them. Bored to death. I even ran up to a few people who were getting from their cars so that I could take their books to the book drop. Very nice outside...cloudy, breezy, chance of rain. I was starting to enjoy myself. Get back to the temp site, and I got to help clean a bathroom *sigh*

After work, I went home, fixed my hair (didn't do anything to it after morning shower), ate lunch, kissed the cat, then headed off...had a train to catch.

Planning a trip to Seattle to visit [livejournal.com profile] michelleann68 for a bit, since both our birthdays are on Monday. Brought Peacock (my laptop) with me so I could watch something on the train. And it was wierd...2 hour train ride, and I only managed to watch an hour 15 minutes. I started soon after I got on, and sent a handful of text messsages towards the end...feels like an X-files ep and lost time somehow.

kk. So arrived at 7:00-ish--Michelle picked me up and brought Mils (her cat) with her. We dumped him and my bags off at her apartment, then went shopping. Going to see a play the next day, and she insisted I dress up...and I own nothing but jeans. The second place we went to had an okay selection. So I ended up with a pair of nice pants/slacks, a light blue small shirt thing, and a thin black shirt to go over it. (By the 'termanology' can't you tell I shop a lot? *snort*)

Then shoe shopping. Got something black and sparkly just before we were kicked out because closing time.

Got back to apartment and watched the newest Dr. Who, Captain Jack's first ep back, then bedtime.

And I will blab about Saturday...sometime later. Getting late and I have no idea what is planned for later.

My computer is being like 3 times faster than it normally is. I think it is just sucking up because I have been looking into getting a laptop. I figure that it costs close to the same as a desktop, and, if I get one, I can still keep the old desktop here, since the laptop wouldn't need to go in its place.
So, question for all you laptop users...how well do laptops work when you take them places as far as being able to get an internet connection? If that even makes sense. I am laptop illiterate for the time being :)

Now, to babble about the goings-on lately.

This last weekend, my RL aunt was going down up to Seattle to visit her brother and asked if I wanted to go along so I could stay with [livejournal.com profile] michelleann68. I was already planning on visiting towards the end of June, but hey, it would be fun! ;) Had to look into finding a sub for my Sunday library hours, which wasn't too hard *whew* Hated to miss out on the money for that day, but *shrugs* I don't get to spend enough time with Donna (aunt), so we could jabber on the way there and back.
Was picked up at about 10 and got to Seattle around 12:30. After some major confusion about where to be dropped off (sorry, Michelle, I am crap with directions...prob a reason why I don't want to drive places I am unfamiliar with), I switched vehicles and was off to Michelle's apartment. Dumped off my bag, said a quick hello to her cat, Mils (Lisa was in hiding) and we were off again.

Awhile back, I had been talked into (hee) donating my hair to Locks of Love. Was going to do that in June during the original visit, but now was as good a time as any. Had a 3:00 apointment, so we killed a bit of time at Starbucks (I think? See, this is why I need to update asap...details get a bit foggy), and I enjoyed a large peanutbutter cookie a bit too much. Then we checked two theaters to see about showtimes for Spiderman 3, thinking about seeing it later that night. Then we went to a few other places...Lush? and something with a Z that I can't spell. Went to the hairplace and was told they were running behind schedule. I wanted to avoid any place with books, but it is a good way to kill time, so we went to Barnes and Noble. And I managed not to buy anything!

Back to hairplace. They were still backed up, so we waited there. Super nice, asked me if I wanted them to get me anything o.o Dunno how long we waited, but finally was my turn. Dun de dum. They measured my hair before chopping it off. And I was able to avoid yelling a dramatic NO! as the scissors started to snip. Head felt so much lighter after it was gone, wow. Then I was in for a wash, then to get it styled. The stylest and I pretty much talked non-stop. And I am not a talkative person, so I think it was a buildup of nervousness or something.

Loved the way it was styled: About shoulder length, hair parted in the middle, about an inch shorter for the bangs to frame my face, etc. Naturally as soon as I washed it, it poofs and won't behave. I think I almost have it down how to style it similar. I need to take pictures at some point.

We were going to meet with Gin (who I met last/first time I visited) and her Mom, but they got busy with something else, I think because the hair took so long. We were close to the movie theater, so zipped over there. I think Spiderman was showing on at least 6-10 screens, so there was a showing in just about 5 minutes. Which was enough time to find the bathroom and settle in shortly after the previews started.

I really enjoyed it, though MJ makes me ill. There was too much romance crap in it. MJ reminds me of Cameron from House. Sure they aren't related? MJ bugs me way more. The fight scenes were awesome and I now want to slash Harry and Spidey sooo bad! Urge to go look for fanfiction is still calling to me. I went to see the movie again, dragging Mom along, mainly just so I could see the scenes with Harry in them again. (shut up lol)

So...let's see...I know we had pizza for dinner. Very loud and it took forever to get served. Food was decent, but I don't think it was worth the wait.
Oh, before that, we went down to The Seattle Art Museum and got tickets for Sunday. It had just reopened that weekend and you can get in free, but you had to pick up tickets for what time you were planning on being there.

Got home around...9? maybe later, to a much better welcome from the cats.

Despite the excitement, it was hard to fall asleep. I am used to staying up until 4am most nights, and it was just past 11. Layed there for a bit, plotting out a H/W bunny that sprung to mind. Sounded plausable, so I got up and typed some of it up, which started to sound suckish, then I went back to bed...er couch ;) around midnight.
Woke up a couple times, and one of those times Mils came to say howdy.
Officially up about 7:30..I think. Had a bit of time to kill before meeting with Gin and her Mom at the museum. Went to this nice little place for breakfast. I'm not a huge fan of waffles, but I really liked the ones that were served there. Very popular place with a waiting list. And, naturally, when we left, there was no one in line. Had to hurry since we were running a bit late.

Guh...fingers hurting from all the typing lol.

So. SAM.
Modern art just confuses me. *shakes head* Maybe I just need to get out more. First museum I had ever been to.
Manged to get seperated from Michelle and Gin. I tried calling Michelle while Gin's Mom tried Gin. Both their phones were checked in at the start. Kidna amusing. So we went around to look at everything on that floor, trying to keep an eye out. Appariently, we kept both eyes on the look out, because we ended up walking right past a statue thingy of a giant rat that was...sitting on a bed/matress that was on a person. Dunno how the hell we missed it because we literally had to walk past its tail.
And, the freaky thing is...there was a picture of a pile of naked men that I also missed...though I still swear that picture wasn't there at the time. I distinctly remember looking at the one before and after it, and Gin's Mom agreed with me. And the only thing that would have distracted me from it was the giant rat. That I didn't see.

Went out to lunch after that, then swung by this Japanese dollar store, where everything was 1.50. Bought a toy for Ki (my cat) that she absolutely loves. Just a plain mouse with a feather on it attached to a string attached to a stick. She had one already, but it didn't have the feather, which she is bonkers for.

Donna was picking me up at 4, so we went back home to round up things and hang out a little more.

It sure didn't seem like I had only been there a day, with all the stuff we got crammed into our time. Kinda sureal.

I don't think I had walked so much in a month as I did that weekend. My legs were throbbing and they finally stopped hurting on Wednesday. I need to keep them in shape for my next visit, though I am told that we won't do as much walking. Shall see :)

Everyone likes the new haircut. It is a bit warm on my neck. I can tie it back if I really wanted to, but trying to avoid that until I get desperate. And it wasn't until later that I realized that the hairplace took my cheap little hair tie lol. Not like I plan on using them *amused*

Okay, I think I have spammed the flist enough. Oh except for one more thing:

I loved the newest House ep! Wilson on speed!! Ahhhh!! Thinking of that scene is enough to give me a dopey smile for the rest of the day. So glad that Wilson has been getting a lot of love (umm...as far as a lot of scenes goes lol) these last few eps *happy dance* But season is almost over :'(
