I think I may have remember what I was going to type last night (while lying in bed thinking about it)
It was actually kinda a question--ah Hell, it is a question :P
I've read several places where it mentioned that Alan Alda would only do the show if there was a scene in the OR (while surgery was performed) in every episode, and that was written in his contract. My question is: was there one in every episode? As far as I can remember, there is at least an operation going on (not always in OR).
That has been bugging me for some time, and, just when I wanted to post and ask it, I forget to!!

You know, it's odd. I've read that too, and actually, I was just thinking about it earlier today! The v. first scene of the first episode (after the credits of course) is when they are in OR. I know I've read that Alda wanted more OR scenes to give it a more serious look sometimes, not just all laughs...but I don't know if there is an OR scene in every episode. (Hmm. He's quite picky for someone who didn't even sign on to play Pierce until six hours before shooting the Pilot.) Perhaps I'll have to try to spot an ep inwhich there is no OR scene...but it will have to be while I'm watching my DVDs, as Hallmark could quite possibly cut a scene like that...they've done it, in "Chief Surgeon Who?", they cut out the OR scene inwhich Spearchucker asks about the patient...they just showed Frank barging into Henry's office, crying about how he outranks him, Pierce says it's not his fault he's not as rank as Burns is, ya know. Hmm.

Adieu,

I think I remember one ep...been awhile ago, that there was no OR scene, but an opperation was performed, like on a roadside, or something. Pretty sure that that would count since an opperation was performed...
Well, I was going to say something else, but Mom distracted me *growl* and I lost my concentration again!!! Stupid Brain dead syndrome!!
Oh, in other news, I have completed a rough draft of one of your challenges :) I hope it sucks less when I get it typed out :P

Ooh. Story. That, too, I believe I shall eat whole. And with my hands. Fuck the spoon. Yeah, I think that roadside operations count...or Battalion Aide operations, or any sort of operations...well, when they're operating on people, ya know...not like the shenanigans they play when they're bored. Ack! I hate it when my mom distracts me! She was v. weird the other night, just showed up and cleaned my apartment. o.O

Adieu,

I've read the same things, and I swear there are a few episodes in which there are no OR scenes. I count road-side surgery, or anything dealing heavily with someone being sick or shot. But maybe the episodes I am thinking of just have scenes cut from them.

I imagine, later though, Alan may have gotten more lenient -- they certainly got across the "War is Hell" message in the last few season, without the help of OR or blood.

Farewell.
