More than last time :D

Dogtag Dawn Part something---I haven't broken this into parts yet.
(Beginning with the last paragraph I posted)
The sharp click of a rifle woke him with a start. The barrel of the rifle, complete with bayonet, came into view. He followed the barrel to small hands, then a face, a Korean face…a Korean woman’s face. A sharp command in Korean made him quickly stop staring and get his hands in the air…

The gun-sword was aimed at his eye. Some rapid Korean was thrown at him, but he only shook his head, unable to understand.

“American?”

Her English, though heavily accented, surprised him. “Yes…”

“Soldier?”

He started to panic…“I—I’m not sure…”

The rifle was lowered a fraction. “What?”

He just shook his head and lowered his eyes, seeming to be examining his right boot.

“Stand,” the woman demanded.

“All the same, I would rather sit.”

She took a step closer and looked down at the man. His hands, still in the air, shook slightly. He raised his eyes to meet hers, trying not to show any fear, expecting her to pull the trigger any moment. “Get up,” her voice sharply clipped out the words.

The man slowly lowered his hands and used them to push himself off the ground. His world spun and he fell at her feet and she was barely able to move the gun out of his way. She uttered a Korean curse and poked the stranger with her foot…he was out cold.

***

When next he woke, he noticed that his surroundings had changed drastically. He now lay on a pile of cloth rags. His hands were bound and one of his legs was attached to a metal rod that had been planted into the hard packed dirt of the building floor. Daylight could be glimpsed through the cracks in the board roof and outlined by the cloth-covered windows.

The woman noticed he was awake and watched him silently from her corner. It wasn’t the first time she had seen an American, but this was the first that the American wasn’t a soldier...sure, the others had denied it also. This one was different.

"Mom! Mom! Look what I found in the woods! He's hurt, really bad, and he needs me to take care of him -- can I keep him, huh, huh?"
"Oh, you know how I feel about keeping American soldiers as pets."
"Aw, but Mom--"
"Alright. But you have to promise to walk him, and feed him, and play with him. He's your responsibility and I won't have you slacking off. Remember what happened last time, with the Canadian?"
"It won't happen again, Mom, I'll take real good care of him *pause* I think I'm going to name him Spot. Or Princess."

Sorry. It just came to mind. I attempted to resist. Anyway, I'm still very curious about this woman, and what all she's up to. Another good bit, and I cannot wait to see more. Hoping all turns out alright, you know? Great job, as usual.

Farewell.

Glad you didn't try too hard to resist, that was hilarious!

I'm still not quite sure what the woman is up to...I either focus really well on new characters, or ignore them completely. And, since she is a major character for the time being, I can't do that lol.
