of slash, toes, and kittens

6am and I am not even remotely tired, so, babble post time!

Another person knows I am into slash. This time, a friend I went to high school with that I am still in touch with. I had been letting her read a little bit of this J2 fic. I was planning on having it be gen (shock, I know), and it is always encouraging to have someone begging/threatening me to continue. Well, last night, I had an awesome idea that pushes ficcy waaaay into the NC-17 area.
Good news is friend didn't sign out of IM right away lol, though I know it completely weirded her out.
Why is it when you write slash or are into gay rights and all do people have to ask if you are gay yourself? Hello? I write about guys. Though there may be 2 or 3 actresses that I would go crooked for (I almost typed 'bend for' but...the mental image...eww), I am straight.
So she got a little education on slash. Mmmkay.

Next subject...I dropped this 20-25 pound square...block? thing on my foot at work. It is a thing for kids to sit on and they end up being dragged all over the place. I misjudged where my foot was when I dropped it back to the ground. Note to self: Self, don't do that again!

Last subject: KITTIES! Bella finally brought her kittens to the house! We figure that they are about 10 weeks. Flighty as hell. Hard to get them all in view at one time, they move so fast! But I counted, finally, 4 of them. I think that is all. Thought just 3 yesterday. I'll upload some vids tomorrow of them. One black with brown/golden highlights like Sammy, one little fluffball with long fur and eartuffs that looks like a miniature Bella, and the other two are various shades of tabby gray. *squees*
I got the fluffball to go after kibble I tossed its way. It would dive for the food, eat it, glance up, notice me, then run.

I have the same problem with folks thinking I'm gay. "Well, you like to read about two men getting it on. That obviously means you're attracted to women." Wait, what? How does that even make sense? And for the caring about gay rights thing. No, wanting LGBT people to be equal in the eyes of government and society does not mean I love the ladies. It just means I'm not an asshole.

My friend tried to reason that the 'assuming I was gay thing' was similar to a guy liking to watch two girls get it on.
Me: "So a guy who gets turned on by two girls is gay?"
The mind, it boggles.

It just means I'm not an asshole. Amen! Why is it that whenever I say I support LGBT rights that I am almost immediately forced to add that I'm straight or people will think I'm a lesbian? Society, why are you made of fail?

Well, the only people who know are my brother (he reads my LJ), 2 HS friends (one writes it herself, the other is the one mentioned above) and a coworker who also reads my LJ (well, I assume since she reads it she knows.)
Then the people in my writing group...but I don't think they know any more aside from I write stories involving gay characters.

Actually...that is quite a few people lol. Just lucky my parents seem to show no interest in what I write :D

Huh I often find myself asking the same question. What is it with people not being able to make the link between enjoying slash and being of the straight persuasion? It just goes to show how much work there is to do until all these prejudices are out of the world :(
