Well, I went to the Vid store to look for a movie for my Mom...I couldn't find it, but wanted to buy a pop there (I swear they have the coldest bottles of pop around!) and I didn't want to stand in line just for a soda (there were like 3 people ahead of me). So, I decided to check out A New Life with AA ....

A New Life (very short) Review:

Well, I had been putting off renting this because...well..Alan Alda with a beard and wierd curly hair kinda put me off. Strangly I almost got used to the look...Had to giggle towards the end when he was in hospital room and he had the cap and mask on...covered up the hair and beard nicely....nice to be able to look in his eyes without being distracted...

I thought it mightly funny when he bailed on most of the child-birthing stuff...I don't blame him one bit *shudder*

Is it just me or does a lot of his films involve a group of people standing around arguing, and you can barely hear one person over the other?

Good film, but not great. Was worth the 2 bucks I spent to rent it lol.

Other news, I got Paper Lion which I had bought off of e-bay several weeks ago. Glad that it finally got here! I watched a few minutes of it..*rubs hands together* This is gonna be fun :D

Oh, so that's the perm and beard one. I've heard mixed reviews about that, but either way I would like to see it. That and Paper Lion also looks interesting.

It was amusing, but kinda pointless until towards at the end...I didn't really even care what happened with the characters :-/

I would die to see Paper Lion. I would. I got myself a PAL/NTSC TV (hard to find believe me), I have a VCR with NTSC playback (check) but I don't have a single NTSC video cassette.
And my dad won't order from Amazon US because of the new delivery regulations - if you're not at home when they deliver your order something really bad happens yadyadayada I forgot. Anyhow, Amazon UK sells region 1 DVDs. Yay! A bit more expensive so who cares - the problem is Europe is region 2. I don't have a multi region DVD player. F**k!!!! Multi region software for my PlayStation 2 = expensive because it comes with a million cheat codes I totally don't need.
Frustrating or what?
So if you ever get a chance to put Paper Lion on DVD do you think you could make screen caps? Please?

Sadly, I have no way to be able to do that. I don't even know how to make a copy of a VHS tape..though I do know I would need a second VCR lol. I really wish I could make some screen caps, Alan is sooooo cute!! It was filmed in 1968. The best I could do is scan the cover, but it is one of those wierd oil-paint pictures that looks ugly lol. I should be posting a review of the movie either late tonight or tomorrow, depending on when I get to watch the rest of it.

Hmm, that one doesn't sound too bad. I have a whole list of ones to see, I'm not too good about keeping up, dammit. Although when you said "Paper Lion" I immediately thought of "Paper Moon" and was quite confused for a moment or two. Curly hair, huh? That oughta bee a sight.

Quite a sight lol. Alan Alda is so scrawny in Paper Lion compared to the other football players! I was eating breakfast while watching some this morning, and I realized I was doing more watching than eating! It's been 2 hours since breakfast and I am already starving!!
