evila_elfWell, it has been pouring down water since Saturday night. And it won't stop. I think this is the worst it has been for a long while.
Backing up a bit, a friend of Mom's had been having house problems...they had been building a new house around their old one, since they weren't cleared to tear down the old and put a new-new one in there. So a bunch of people kicked her and her hubby out of the house and went ahead with the project since they had been working at it themselves for almost a year and had run out of water. Super nice looking...high ceilings, fans, very soft carpet, and new furniture.
Well, the water is to her garage now and there is a small leak in the ceiling :( Ack.
We are supposed to be getting some high winds this afternoon, and might lose power. Joy.
I took some pictures of the back of our yard:

It stopped raining late yesterday and the water has gone down lots. Might try braving it into town in a bit, see which roads are open.
Both lane of the freeway shut down yesterday due to water over the roadway, so any side roads might be full on of traffic :-/
Ki did stare at the water for a good long while, curled up as tightly as she could

Date: 2007-12-04 08:26 pm (UTC)Good luck with everything. Did you have any water damage in your house? I know that in Hurricane Wilma my parents had some major problems with their floors. My friends were spending the night the day it hit and we spent more than half of the night shoving towels under the door and then wringing them out.
