House: You know that, relative to their size, gorillas have smaller testicles than humans?
Cuddy: Well, then you’d probably have an edge over a gorilla, but not over me
House: Reason is, primate testicle size conversely corresponds to the fidelity of our females
Wilson: You think there might be a better time to annoy me about my wife?
Is House saying that Wilson has small balls? Or does Wilson just think that? o.0

Date: 2006-04-12 05:18 pm (UTC)The reason gorillas have small testicles (relative to their size) is because they live in a single male/multi female harem group. The females only come in to estrus every three or four years or so and the male is the only one who will mate with them. Male gorillas don't need big balls.
Chimpanzees on the other hand have enormous testicles relative to body size because they live in large multi-male, multi-female groups and when a female comes into estrus it's a bit of a free-for-all and whoever gets in last is usually the one who gets to father that female's offspring. They need big testicles to produce lots of sperm.
On the third hand, relative to body size, human males have average size testicles. (And in relation to body size and in comparison to the other apes, human males also have unusually large penises!)

Date: 2006-04-12 06:05 pm (UTC)Actually (and this is all in relation to body size), gorillas have small penises, chimps have average size penises and humans have large ones...and no one can quite figure out why. (Although when you think about it there is a limit to how large it can be.....)
So in conclusion.... *draws herself up pompously* Sorry, boys, size does matter!
