After eating breakfast, we headed over to Central Park. This, to me, was the coldest day of the trip.
Saw tons of squirrels and took a bunch of pictures. Oddly, none of the squirrels lol:
After the park, we went to the Central Park Zoo. Very small zoo, but I think they used their space really well.
Sadly, we saw none. Figures.
I took a ton of pictures of this guy, but he kept turning his back on me. Sadly, this is the best picture:
After that, we went to The Met and walked until we couldn't walk any more. HUGE museum. I think we barely covered half of it. I liked the old history stuff. After that, we wandered over to get discount tickets to see a play that night. The line was really long, but it moved well. Maybe about 20-30 minutes in line. Michelle had been dying to see Follies (one of the Sondheim plays she had yet to see), and I wanted to see Seminar.
While in line, there were some guys giving out advice for the shows and what to see. We asked three different guys what they would recommend. They all seemed to demand that we see Priscilla Queen of the Desert ("Listen to us gays; we'll never steer you wrong!"). So. We had a new second choice for a play to see the next night.
It was getting too late to fight our way back through Times Square to the hotel to change for the play, so we did a bit of shopping. Went to the Hershey store. It was packed!
Then we went out for dinner. Food wasn't too memorable, but from listening to other people, everyplace else there was a huge waiting list to be seated, and we got seated within 5 minutes. Which was good, since we were on a schedule.
Settled in the for play. It was okay. It picked up by the second half. I think part of the reason why it didn't grab me was that the lead actress...I couldn't stand her. I don't think it was entirely due to the character she was playing, either. She seemed too theatrical (yeah, yeah, I know), but overacting. I like subtlety.
There were flashbacks to the main characters when they were younger (I loved her younger self). A lot of the non-main characters were awesome and I am sad thy didn't get more time to shine. This performance was awesome:
And that was it for day 2.
