Training, old library no more, etc
Wednesday, August 15th, 2007 11:40 pmTraining is going really well.
The New Employee Orientation was a bit boring since I knew a lot of that already, but the people were nice (and there were only like 9 in the class) and for once, I seemed to be the talker of the group o.o; That has never happened before. I got some more attention for having been the only non-new person and for being involved in the library remodel project--more on that later. I used to be the shy person who wouldn't talk and would blush whenever I had the attention of the room. Er...not this time. Well, I did blush once, but that was when the 2 staff instructors were talking about this guy who looked like Richard Gere who was at one of the All Staff Days several years ago. I pointed out that I was there and was drooling over him as much as everyone else (I hadn't noticed anyone else at that time) and one of the other people pointed out that I was blushing. Lolz!
And speaking of hot:
One of the people, who was talking about accounting and finances (boring) was sooooo cuuute! Ah! I don't think I heard a word of what he said, but he sure had my attention ;) He was fairly old, though, greying at the temples. And he had glasses. I have a thing for glasses.
We went on a tour of the Service center. Saw the place where they make flyers, posters, etc, and they had this awesome paper cutter that can cut like 3 inches of paper. We all ooohed. Then we were given these little recycled paper notepads of scratchpaper, which made everyone happy, much to the staff's amusement. Doesn't take much ^.^
We got to see where all the boxes of books from other libraries are brought to be sorted to go out to other libraries--huge!!
And we got to see the carts and carts and carts of new books waiting to be stamped and processed. I was drooling and wanted to look at them all. I love my job at Chehalis, but I would leave it in a flash if I got to work with new books all day!
Those were the highlights for Tuesday.
Wednesday, I had to miss the tearing down of the old building because of more training. Drove by at 8:15, but it was still standing. If anyone wants to see pictures of the whole moving process, head here:

The newest 4 are the before and after shots.
So, the training was for Horizon, our book checkout program. I go again tomorrow and Friday. We learned how to do some searches and to check in and out. We had several breaks, so I had logged onto my e-mail and chatted with
michelleann68 for a few minutes.
I also had to work after at Chehalis. So I went there and took a couple vids before reporting for duty. I had a book that came in, so they made me check it out myself (kind, those people) and I guess I passed, hehe.
And there are only 5 (including me) in the class.
Would talk more about it, but doubt that anyone would know what I am talking about hehe
