daasgrrl recently saw DPS and was unhappy with the ending.

So, here is an alternate ending in 100 words (and no, I didn't make it happy lol)


100 Word Drabble
Neil padded down the stairs with nary a sound. He paused briefly at his father’s study, then continued. He turned the outside door handle just as silently.

He couldn’t feel the snow underneath his feet nor the chill of the wind and snow against his bare skin. One step...two...200...

Mr. Perry awoke with a start when the door—carelessly left open—blew shut.

Four hours. Four hours to find the body against a tree, icicle tears still stuck to his cheeks and a smile upon his lips...

I went into the woods because I wanted to live deliberately...
