Tuesday, August 23rd, 2005 02:07 amWell, it is time yet again for a randoM entry...
.....
Jeff is off by now to the airport to slowly make his way back to Japan. Dad and I dropped him off at G'ma's where he should have been picked up by this transport van to take him to the airport a few minutes ago...providing everything went as planned. Mom was crying as we left with him. I remember a couple weeks ago (when I was the good kid) how she was eager for him to leave.
Now, even though he was here for almost a month, it seems like he had never been home. Wierd. I miss him. Even though he loved to tease me about my fandoms. I was able to show him 4 House episodes during the course of his stay, hehe.
One of the Vid communities I am on is talking alot about Vividcon and I keep reading it as Vicodin -.- The first time it amused me...the 5th *grumble*
Been watching The Amazing Race 4 repeats on TV. The 3rd season I loved. This season---uuugh! I hate everyone except the clowns. I am amused by the two guys. Who are married...to each other :) They are jerks though.
After having a hold on it for a month, I finally got Prey by Michael Crichton(sp?) on talking book. Read by Robert Sean Leonard *dies* Firstly, the story is awesome, and I highly suggest you give it a read. Kept remining me of an X-files episode. Back to RSL...He doesn't change his voice much between characters at times, but he is a delight to listen to. One scene where the son (of the guy narrating the story) grabs his sister's bra and runs around the house yelling "Nikki wears a bra, Nikki wears a bra!" in a very annoying teasing way. Then Nikki: "Daaad...he's doing it again," in a very tight, anger controlled voice. RSL's voice sighs. This, is what my life had become.
That little bit just kills me!
It is almost like another movie role that he has played. I let Mom listen to a bit at the beginning and she insisted I leave the tape with her so she could continue to listen to it! And she had never listened to a talking book before. She even demanded that I listen to it faster so that she could get the next tape from me. She shushed me when I tried to talk during it!
When I got down to the last cassette, I found out that I kept paying more attention to the TB than the game I was playing and almost died several times. So I logged off and lay on my bed, so obsorbed that I could picture every scene as it happened! I listen to Talking Books a lot, but rarely can I do that!.
I am now listening to another Talking Book narrated by Robert Sean Leonard...This one called Disobedience by Jane Hamilton. It is decent, and very humorous, but not nearly as good. It lacks suspense and keeps jumping away on side stories instead of focussing on the main point of the story. Though it may have helped if the person who listened to it last had put the tapes back in order...I completely skipped a cassette without knowing it!
And I bought one off of ebay called The Short History of a Prince (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSAA:US:11&Item=6973034990)
It sounds interesting.
*bounces around* I love e-bay :D
I am listening to a country station. It plays good music, but there is a stupid advertising break every couple of songs.
Need to dig up 20 bucks to renew my Entertainment Weekly subscription.
Went to the fair Saturday. For the first time in 2 years. No fun unless I get to go with friends. I went with Dad. Was okay. Didn't even get to look at the stuff for sale. (probably a good thing), but did look at the chickens (I miss my chickens :( ) and wandered around. I ate an Elephant Ear, curly fries, pepsi, and bought a bag of cotton candy :)
Sign Language is back! Finally we got a class going again. Sadly, we are starting over from the beginning since there are only 4 of us who were involved last time. So far, there are about 15 of us...I expect that to drop in half within the next several weeks. People get discouraged too easily. It is fun knowing way more than the other beginners. Most of the people are older, and they have arthritis, so it is hard for them to get their fingers moving correctly.
Went to get some french fries before the Signing class and sat with Mom in the car in the parking lot. I was tossing the ends of the fries for the little birdies to eat. One of the fries I nabbed fell in Mom's lap (she was in control of the bag), so she grabbed it and tossed it out of my open window. Instead there was a car parked next to us. Thank God their window was rolled up. But the fry did make a rather loud thump on the window. And there was a person inside. She gave such a startled look at us! Then I lost it. I was laughing so hard that I was sure she could hear me. 10 minutes I laughed, tears running down my face, gasping for breath. Then, as Mom drove, I took a drink of my pop and had another 5 minutes of giggling.
Wow...been typing/thinking for almost an hour.
Since I have been working at the library, I have noticed that I smile way too much at strangers. I remember how I use to avoid eye contact with any/everyone who I didn't know. Now, anyone who looks at me I grin at. I even *gasp* have had several conversations with people in stores. o.o; And at a video store last month, someone thought that I worked there o.0 Don't know where they got that from. I still tried to help them look for the movie they wanted.
Nothing else to say, I guess. :)
OMG @ the Worried Mood icon! hehe
