Trip time!

The massive trip is underway!

Flew from Seattle early early Thursday morning to San Francisco to catch a flight 2 hours later to Atlanta. The flight was delayed for 4 hours because of a cracked handle, the type you use as a grip, on the emergency door. It wasn't noticed until after the safety check and we were all on board. We did get free Direct TV for the flight and a 50 dollar voucher for another flight. I watched Guardians of the Galaxy and Edge of Tomorrow (it finished just as we landed).

Went the the Atlanta Zoo today and the World of Coke Museum. Tomorrow, we are driving to Florida. Wheee!

I realize I have neglected to tell you all that I am officially on vacation for the first time in 6 months (work related, no one to cover for me)

So, I am in Seattle visiting Michelle (after having a bus mishap and ending up on the wrong side of Seattle. I finally got off the bus and, right around the corner, was a Dick's Drive in. I really love their fries and shakes. Almost worth the $23 buck cab ride back to where I NEEDED to be. Almost.)

Tomorrow morning, we fly out to California. Going to a Swap Meet in Pasadena (which I am wildly excited about), Disneyland (also wildly excited about), Conan O'Brien show, Screening of the Psych Musical ep., and some other stuff around, but not in, Comic-Con.

Gone until the 22nd.

eeeee!

My weekend

Went up to Seattle to visit [livejournal.com profile] michelleann68 for our Birthday weekend. It seems to have become a tradition for her to do the Rock and Roll half marathon and for us to watch the Pride Parade each year at this time.

The weather was awesome for the marathon....overcast and not too hot. But just as Michelle was getting in at the finish line, it started to rain. Then it started to pour. It didn't take long for us to be completely soaked. We weren't too far from Michelle's place, but her feet hurt and we saw a pedicab. That was a bit of an adventure o.o;

The Parade on Sunday was fun. We camped out on some chairs in front of Yellow Leaf (OMG, they had my fav, cupcake, cinnamon roll!! that day!). Normally the parade is a couple hours, but this year...three and a half! There are a lot more businesses showing support, which added to the time, plus some badly spaced gaps. There were two guys announcing by where we are with speakers. They were hilarious, but it made it impossible to have much of a conversation. I'll post up some pics when I get a chance to look at them.

And now today, Monday. Heading back home...maybe. I am on Amtrak. We pulled no further than a mile out of the station when it was declared that the train was having some sort of engine troubles and we had to head back into the station. Supposed to leave 40 minutes ago. Mechanics still looking it over. Something to do with keeping the train from reaching the right speed. Passengers can get off the train and smoke on the platform, but a lot of the smoke is floating back in here.

uuugh.

I've fallen behind with mmom. Going to try to catch up!

I did spend a nice weekend in Seattle. I took my cousin and her kids with me on the train for the day. We went to the Wall of Gum down by Pike Place Market, visited Yellow Leaf for cupcakes, then went to meet with [livejournal.com profile] michelleann68 and continue to the Space Needle.

It was a very lovely day. Not too warm, not too hot.

And I got my lemon pictures :D

After they headed home, I stayed and got caught up on TV watching with Michelle. She had been condo shopping and had finally put in an offer, so she was in a state of nerves most the time. When I got home, I just stepped off the train and she called to say her offer had been accepted! Yay :)

Now, to dump this cat off my lap and try to get some writing done!

Did I mention I went to New York with [livejournal.com profile] michelleann68 last weekend?

Lots of babble and pictures )

So, the Leverage convention has been canceled due to poor ticket sales. The only surprise is that it took so long to let everyone know (I think it ended up being about a month before the convention), which screwed up a lot of people's non-refundable flights.
The things that didn't help it at all:
$400 bucks this year (was 300 last year), for the Plat. tickets
No Christian Kane.
No Autos included in free any of the packages like last year.
They took forever to announce the dates, to the point where a lot of people weren't able to ask time off work.
The guest stars hadn't really been announced until tickets were almost ready to stop being sold (I think they still weren't all announced).
Late release of weekend schedule.
SPN Con going same weekend.
And probably a bunch more stuff.

Glad I got to go last year. Despite all the screw ups, I had a good time.

So, instead of Con Con in Portland, I am going with Amy and Michelle to LA and, if I can avoid buying a bunch of crap I don't need, I will be able to do it a lot cheaper. Woot!

Pretty much plan on letting Michelle and Amy drag me everywhere, since I haven't been before and they have.

Actually, the only things I am sad about with Con Con is not getting to see a few friends I made last year, and getting to see Mark Shepherd, who was a guest star.

I will be leaving Thursday morning, June 2nd, for Seattle by train, fly to LA that evening and meet up with Amy, do a bunch of stuff, then head back to Seattle late Sunday, and train home that afternoon/evening. :)

Update time

Okay, I have been really bad about updating lately. I would normally say because it is hiatus time, but it seems I have been more busy watching shows than I do during the fall. When did that happen? Either way, I blame/thank [livejournal.com profile] michelleann68

Uugh, it's a wonder I still remember how to do html!

Anyway, here are a few updates I have been putting off:

Jury Duty )

Portland trip 2 )
I actually wrote a fic :D (I wrote this and the last entry in the left over steam of fic writing). It is a SPN RPS one. Only my second in that fandom. Seems I can only write them (or anything lately) if I do it in one sitting. I need to read it several more times to make sure it isn't crap before I post it. My normal betas - one isn't in the fandom, and the other hates death fics (yes, I was mean to one of them *evil cackle*) So expect that up in a day or two...less than 1k words.

Yes yes, bad updater, bad!

Anyway, I am in Canada with [livejournal.com profile] michelleann68 and Gin. Never been before....actually, never been outside of Washington and Oregon before. We spent like 3-4 hours at the Stanley Park Aquarium (20 minutes walking to it from the car and 2 minutes walking back to the car because we didn't see the little path. At least we got a tour of the park).
I forgot my camera at the hotel, so I will post some pictures that Michelle took when she gets them uploaded.
Then we went for lunch/dinner, and went back because there was a fireman's light exhibit by the park.

More later when feeling more like I have the time to type more ^.^
